Able Grey Reveals Electronica Journey With 'The Wave'

DJ and producer Able Grey is one of Chicago's brightest rising artists with a signature style that is not only unparalleled, but also willing to evolve over time. Blending indie-dance electronica with selections of future bass, melodic dub and mid-tempo on his recent releases, he makes sure to create music that fans won't want to miss. After last month's vibrant song 'Afterglow,' he now reveals his new energy-filled, bright single 'The Wave.'

Having a passion for music most of his life, Able Grey first found himself involved in the scene during high school. Carrying around an old-school boombox everywhere he went, he would share his love of music to others through CDs and flash drives. Getting his first controller as a graduation gift, he began teaching himself how to DJ before attending Butler University.

After his first couple years in college, he started learning to produce with Ableton Live and also decided to put his DJing skills to the test. Lucky enough to travel to Italy with family throughout the following summers, he ended up tapping into the energy of the local scene and gained experiences of a lifetime. DJing at some of the biggest clubs in Florence including the likes of Bamboo, Blanco and Space, it was safe to say that he knew had to throw a show.

Nearing the end of his stay at Butler University, Able Grey saw himself playing at a wide range of clubs and venues in Indianapolis consisting first of his residency at BLU, but also at the Subterra Lounge, Tiki Bob's, Taps and Dolls and even the widely popular Indy 500. During this time, he was able to connect with other local artists and perform at house parties, which strengthened his abilities as a DJ that much further.

Diving deep into production after graduating college, Able Grey began working at a recording studio. At this point, he became an audio engineer and really learned how to track and mix vocals, create beats and record rappers. Moving to Chicago sometime later, he started playing multiple shows at big clubs like The Mid, Prysm, Sub 51, Aveda and Base Camp amongst many others.

With influences from artists like Porter Robinson, Illenium, Seven Lions, Flume and Skrillex, Able Grey has dabbled in a wide variety of genres. While he started producing house music when he was attending Butler University, he has recently found himself enjoying making genres like indie electronica, future bass, melodic dub and occasional mid-tempo.

Able Grey first debuted 2020 with his melodic take on Cuben and brvken's track 'Sleepless' featuring BOO!. Quickly following that up with vibrant record 'Afterglow,' he is now back with his new single 'The Wave.' An electronica journey, this release is bursting with energy, bright synths, gentle bass and up-beat waves of feel good vibes.

As an artist who has performed at huge clubs and other locations across the midwest, Able Grey is a DJ and producer absolutely ready to blow up. Recently going independent, he is sitting on almost three albums worth of material and has garnered the support of EDM titans KSHMR, Nicky Romero and Showtek alongside artists like Brooks, Klingande and Disco Fries amongst others.

Looking to the next decade, Able Grey plans to start incorporating more equipment and techniques to make for more immersive live shows and for the coming months, he intends to make a shift towards a more melodic side of EDM with plans to unveil at least one song a month. Fans without a doubt have to keep an eye on this quickly growing artist!
