Despite a wild year, DJ and producing duo group Dr.Ops have persevered and debuted their collaborative career in 2020 with powerful first releases like riddim infused single 'Time to Die' and vibed-out electro banger 'Deeper,' alongside Clomp. Through a slew of streams on platforms like Twitch, Instagram and YouTube, these guys have managed to express their taste in the heavier spectrum of bass genres while showing that they are talents to be reckoned with.
Comprised of two members continents apart, Dr.Ops brings together energy from California and Australia between friends Arjay and Jacob. Coming across one another by chance while waiting in line for shuttles to EDC in 2018, they decided to meet again in Sydney a year later. Realizing they had a mutual passion for EDM culture, bass music and specifically dubstep, these guys ultimately became best friends and later, a thriving duo group.
Arjay is based out of California and has been in the scene for quite a while now, having played guitar and participated in bands when he was younger until he started taking up producing and DJing in 2017. Meanwhile, Jacob lives in Queensland, Australia and while he has had a similar background, he didn't have as much exposure to electronic dance music during school. With a mission to offer therapy to others, potentially give back through charitable fundraising through events and merch sales, and offer their take on bass music, Dr.Ops was born.
Not only have Dr.Ops released a couple original productions this year, but they also unveiled two separate installments of their Neck Brace mix series. Featuring songs from some of biggest names in the scene like Black Tiger Sex Machine, Zomboy, Wooli, Mastadon, Eliminate and Subtronics, these sets proved that they could create killer sets. Sessions like these undoubtedly have segued this duo group for bigger performances.
In a world before social distancing, Dr.Ops had some experiences of a lifetime. They were able to perform live at shows for artists they looked up to like Boogie T, Subtronics, Adventure Club and Barely Alive amongst others. Learning to adapt months later with the Primal Productions squad, they have now taken part in multiple streams from Come Together For Charity, Fight for Freedom Festival and Stream & Destroy to recent event The Underground featuring other artists like Jyst Doe, Oso, Alfa, Detrix, Louder Space and Novuh to name a few.
After seven months of living lives differently, wearing masks, quarantining, not attending shows in person and excelling as DJs and producers, Dr.Ops have now been offered the opportunity to attend two-day event, Rising Stars. Presented by Jaysyx with massive collaborations from labels like Deadweight Productions, Rough Records, Primal Productions MGMT, Recall Network, Dubstep FBI and Evolton, these guys are preparing to ready up for a massive livestream festival.
Jaysyx & Friends Present: Rising Stars is a two-day livestream festival starting at 6 PM (PST) tomorrow, August 21st and Saturday, August 22nd. Designed to highlight 20 of the fastest rising artists in the bass scene, fans will watch DJs and producers Dr.Ops alongside artists like Greg Gatsby, Aeros and Backlash. To catch both days of the performance from all artists, watch the stream via DubstepFBI's Twitch here.
