Ending last year with a decision to leave Harlōw MiiL to launch his solo career in 2020, Mervin J. Montante is now only known by his stage name Harlōw. With a goal to unveil a new release once every Friday for a total of 52 weeks, the Filipino American multi-instrumentalist artist, singer, songwriter, mixing/mastering engineer, and record producer is back with 'Part Nevaeh.'
With every independent release so far, Harlōw has continued to present his ability to bend genres and sounds in a way that is emotional and heartfelt to a degree that not only feels hand-crafted for newcomers and long time fans alike, but also for himself. According to the man himself, this latest release 'Part Nevaeh' manages to seamlessly capture his earliest days of producing in 2017, while also cascading his established, signature sound further through 2020.
After previous releases this year like 'Still Waiting,' 'Late Night Lights' and 'Drupe,' his story continues to move forward with 'Part Nevaeh.' Mervin says that in 2017 during the time he was developing the song, he felt a "growing frustration with music and where he was in life, which lead him to create a world he called 'Part Nevaeh'." He says, "When you close your eyes upon listening, you get a glimpse of where Harlōw goes to feel at peace."
From the beginning, 'Part Nevaeh' takes listeners to another realm. If fans allow themselves to be swept away to this realm, they may imagine jungles, deserts and night sky and will most definitely experience serene and powerful melodies. This realm is an almost forgotten place in the EDM Soundscapes. In the days of an almost saturated scene of repetitive trap and generic lo-fi, Harlōw has presented us with something fresh that instead fuses elements of electronic music, hip-hop and various indie genres to takes us to this realm, the realm of heaven trap, or 'Part Nevaeh.'
Harlōw's mission is to "connect a worldwide audience through various creative avenues." To achieve this statement alongside releasing 44 more songs this year, he has also spearheaded Harlōw’s Art Gallery, a home for his sample packs that he states can be used freely by producers, so that they can have "direct access to his highly unique audio processing."
As a friend of Mervin and fan of Harlōw MiiL myself, I have been following his solo career as Harlōw since the beginning of the year. After listening to 'Part Nevaeh,' I knew right away that it was time to start writing again and share this one. If you enjoyed the track as much as I did, don't forget to share the timelessly, eclectic piece!
Make sure to follow his socials to keep up with his journey, as he will without a doubt continue to unveil future releases to listeners, provide free sample packs to producers and present YouTube episodes to document his story along the way.
